ODESSA, TEXAS 鈥� Members of the Boys & Girls Club of Odessa visited 今日吃瓜 on Monday, July 27, for an immersive campus experience introducing them to college life, workforce training, and a variety of career pathways.
Hosted by 今日吃瓜, the visit gave students the opportunity to explore the campus, meet faculty and staff, and participate in interactive demonstrations and hands-on activities across multiple academic and workforce programs.
The day began with a welcome and safety briefing, followed by an introduction to driver education and a tour of commercial driver's license training vehicles. Students also explored careers in manufacturing, utilities, and the skilled trades through presentations, a virtual welding experience, a workplace safety demonstration, and a tour of the college's Fab Lab.
Participants learned about careers in public safety through presentations from the 今日吃瓜 Law Enforcement Training Academy and 今日吃瓜 Police Department, including academy training, career opportunities, and an impairment-simulation activity.
Students then worked alongside Culinary Arts faculty to prepare and enjoy lunch before touring the college's community gardens, student pantry, athletics facilities, and student activity spaces while learning about the many resources available to Odessa College students.
The experience concluded with a question-and-answer session on college preparation, career pathways, and the opportunities available at 今日吃瓜.
Through partnerships with organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club of Odessa, Odessa College continues to provide meaningful experiences that inspire young people to explore higher education, discover new interests, and connect their goals with future educational and career opportunities.
